Moebius XBIN ✨Ultimate✨ Edition

Moebius is an ANSI Art Editor for MacOS, Linux and Windows.

This repo is a fork of the original project. The rough timeline is as follows...

  • 2019 - andyh develops Moebius as a modern, cross-platform alternative to PabloDraw for creating ANSI Art.
  • 2021 - hlotvonen forks as Moebius XBIN in order to add support for custom fonts and colors.
  • 2023 - grymmjack forks as Moebius XBIN GJ! Edition in order to add various quality of life improvements.
  • 2025 - michael-lazar forks as Moebius XBIN Ultimate Edition in order to add even more quality of life improvements.

There was an early version of Moebius that ran directly in a web browser. This was also forked, and is maintained over at moebius-web by xero.

If you're only interested in Code Page 437, you may prefer the original Moebius. The original project is still maintained (semi-actively) and is the only one that supports the collaborative server feature.

If you're interested in other textmode VGA fonts such as Amiga Topaz, this fork is probably for you.

Please note this is a half-hearted personal fork in order to facilitate my own use. Bug reports are graciously welcome. Pull requests are open, but I'm not interested in making any large, sweeping changes to the existing codebase at this time. Let's keep it chugging along together.

New features

(compared to Moebius XBIN GJ! Edition)

  • Adds an outline to the cursor when using the brush tool.
  • Adds a visual grid to the character palette.
  • Adds a toggle for zooming the character palette to 200%.
  • Lots of bug fixes.
